About CENMIG

Pornchai Matangkasombut Center for Microbial Genomics – CENMIG – was founded as a continuing phase of the works on the genomics of Mycobacterium tuberculosis in Chiangrai Northern Thailand, which was done in collaboration with the Department of Medical Sciences, Thailand, and Tokyo University, and supported by Japan Agency for Medical Research and Development, and Japan International Collaborating Agency, and the Department of Medical Sciences, Thailand. With the trained personnel and computer servers, the center has been continuing to work on the genomes of M. tuberculosis and has expanded the work to cover analyses of many more bacteria and viruses. It was subsequently supported by Asahi-Thai Alloy Company, Mahidol University Multidisciplinary Research Consortium, as well as National Science and Technology Development Agency. The center is now managed by the Department of Microbiology, Faculty of Science, Mahidol University.

CENMIG has expanded its collaboration both within Mahidol University, such as Faculty of Information and Communication Technology, the Amnat Charoen campus and other organizations, such as National Science and Technology Development Agency, Thammasat and Siam University.  CENMIG has been involved in the genomic epidemiological works of several students of the Epidemiology Unit, Prince of Songkla University Epidemiology Unit., under the funding by the Fogarty International Center, US-NIH. The collaboration results in several publication of the Ph.D. students on genomic epidemiology of tuberculosis.
