The program was tailored for researchers who wished to gain an introduction to the field of microbial genomics, but did not have much experience or knew where to begin. We had more than 30 scientists and graduate students from various research institutes and universities participating our workshop.<\/p><p>The workshop offered hands-on practical trainings on how to use command-line programs, how to clean 2<sup>nd<\/sup> and 3<sup>rd<\/sup> generation sequencing data, as well as how to identify bacterial sequence types and identify potential drug resistance genes within their genomes. In order to provide a well-rounded learning experience, each practical session was paired with a lecture on relevant subjects given by experts in the field.
