For many research and diagnostic applications, the whole-genome sequencing is now the gold standard. But knowing which tools to use and how to interpret the results is still a significant barrier for many laboratory professionals.
Pornchai Matangkasombut Center for Microbial Genomics (CENMIG) and Department of Microbiology, Faculty of Science, Mahidol University, is hosting a 3-day intensive Bioinformatics Workshop on Bacterial Species Identification.
What you will learn:
• Linux command-line for genomics
• Short- & long-read sequencing data handling
• Genome assembly & annotation
• Various sequence based methods for bacterial species identification: 16S rRNA genes, Kraken2, ANI & in silico dDDH
• Phylogenomic & species classification
• Handling unknown isolates & proposing novel species
• Species identification in metagenomics data
All sessions are conducted in Thai, combining lectures with hands-on practice. Post-workshop consultative support is included for all participants.
Date: 24–26 August 2026
Venue: Stang Mongkolsuk Conference Room, Faculty of Science, Mahidol University (Phayathai)
Fees:
