Walter Samuel Hunter

Bioinformatics, Genomic Epidemiology
Current students

I am a PhD researcher interested in investigating pathogen transmission through the integration of genomics and epidemiology. My current work focuses on resolving transmission dynamics of Mycobacterium tuberculosis in challenging endemic settings using whole-genome sequencing (WGS) and diverse analytical frameworks. My goal is to translate these findings into actionable insights that support public health decision-making and improve infectious disease control. Outside of research, my interests include science communication and electronic music.

Research Interests:

  • Genomic Epidemiology
  • Molecular Dating
  • Outbreak Analytics
  • Tuberculosis Transmission
